Report: Israel assesses Iran moved thousands of centrifuges to Pickaxe Mountain

An Israeli intelligence assessment, cited in a Wall Street Journal report on Monday, indicates that Iran moved thousands of uranium enrichment centrifuges to a deep underground facility inside Pickaxe Mountain last autumn. This relocation followed Israeli and US strikes in June 2025 that targeted Iran’s three main nuclear sites. Israeli officials expressed concern that the previous airstrikes did not adequately target nuclear weapons development facilities, with one military official stating, “there is still work to be done, including at Pickaxe Mountain.” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly urged President Donald Trump to resume large-scale strikes to disrupt Iran's nuclear program. The US has intensified its strikes recently, and President Trump hinted in an interview that “Pickaxe is a possible target for a nice big fat shot right in the front door.”
