Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has informed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that his country is ready to participate in a military meeting with Israel, a source familiar with the details told the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.According to the report, Beirut hopes that the meeting will lead to a commitment from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a ceasefire, and to expanding the activity of the "verification mechanism" for the purpose of deploying the Lebanese army in the "pilot area." Aoun announced yesterday that the next round of talks between Israel and Lebanon will take place on October 20 in Tampa, Florida. According to him, Lebanon will send a military delegation to the meeting to present its demand that Israel stop the escalation in Lebanese territory.
