Republican Senate candidate in Michigan launches ‘Democrats for Mike Rogers’

Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers launched “Democrats for Mike Rogers” on Thursday in Detroit, appealing to Democrats concerned about his opponent Dr. Abdul El-Sayed’s anti-Israel stance. Rogers stated, “The Democrat voters who feel their nominee doesn’t represent them in their values, all hope is not lost.” Rabbi Asher Lopatin, a self-described Democrat, endorsed Rogers, asserting that El-Sayed “has shown only contempt for Jews as a people.” Lopatin cited El-Sayed’s comments regarding an attack on a Detroit-area synagogue and his association with anti-Israel influencer Hasan Piker. El-Sayed, who narrowly won his primary, has made his opposition to Israel a central theme of his campaign. This Michigan Senate race is considered a toss-up and is crucial for control of the Senate.
