Retired Israeli theater, film star Yossi Pollak dies aged 81

Renowned Israeli actor and director Yossi Pollak has died at 81, concluding a career that spanned over four decades in theater, film, and television. Born in 1945, Pollak began his professional journey in the early 1970s, performing at prominent institutions such as Habima, the Cameri Theatre, and the Haifa Theatre. He also directed numerous stage productions, including “Othello” and “Romeo and Juliet.” Pollak appeared in films like “The Thousand Wives of Naftali Siman Tov” and earned Actor of the Year for his role in “I'm Not Rappaport.” He retired over a decade ago, stating, “I have already fulfilled all my dreams.” The Habima Theatre honored him as “one of the leading actors of the theater who left a mark on the world of culture in Israel.”
