Sa’ar: Radical left, terror groups form ‘operational alliance’

During a U.S.-hosted counter-terrorism conference in Washington, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar asserted that radical left-wing movements and Islamist terrorist organizations have formed an “operational alliance” to undermine democratic societies. Speaking to representatives from over 60 countries, Sa’ar claimed that activist groups, often operating under humanitarian banners, are part of an international network advancing the interests of groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. He cited the “so-called Global Sumud Flotilla” as an example, stating it was portrayed as humanitarian but aimed to breach Israel’s Gaza blockade and serve Hamas’s interests, with seized documents allegedly showing Hamas financing the flotilla through a Spanish shell company linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. Sa’ar presented photographs purportedly linking pro-Palestinian activists, such as Zaher Birawi and Thiago Ávila, to terrorist leaders and activities. He urged governments to expose support networks, track financial flows, dismantle front organizations, and hold those providing operational assistance accountable, emphasizing, “This fight belongs to all democracies.”
