San Jose State graduate student charged in antisemitic bomb-hoax threats

Ziheng "Tony" Fang, a 30-year-old graduate student at San Jose State University, has been charged federally with making false information and hoaxes after allegedly posting over 20 threatening messages on campus since October 2024. Prosecutors claim Fang posted a message on November 5, 2025, warning of a mass bombing and displaying Nazi swastikas, with another message found concurrently threatening Jews, Muslims, and Mexicans. Evidence linking Fang to the threats includes his fingerprint on a notice, key-card records placing him in buildings, and surveillance footage. Prosecutors stated, "University police and the college administration received multiple calls from people worried about coming onto campus because of the threats." Fang also allegedly posted materials expressing "anti-ICE, pro-immigration, anti-MAGA and pro-Palestine views."
