Sara Benjamin Netanyahu asks for lifetime Shin Bet security for family before election

Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, requested lifetime Shin Bet security for herself and her children during a meeting with Shin Bet head David Zini, according to N12 news. She reportedly sought an immediate decision on the matter before the upcoming election. However, sources from Close Security Unit 730 indicated that the risk to the family is not high enough to warrant long-term close security, a position Zini has not endorsed. Separately, the Knesset Finance Committee discussed allocating an additional NIS 393 million to the Prime Minister's Office, with nearly NIS 100 million for Netanyahu family security, including an extra NIS 12 million. MK Vladimir Beliak questioned the timing of this additional allocation, stating, "I am only asking why another NIS 12 million is needed now, three months after the state budget was approved."
