Satellite images show damage inside Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant

Satellite imagery indicates new damage within Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant complex and nearby support facilities following US strikes between July 7 and July 15. Al Jazeera Network’s open-source unit compiled satellite images and US Central Command (CENTCOM) data to map strike locations. Ehsan Jahanian, deputy governor of Bushehr province, confirmed strikes in the region, including areas surrounding the plant, but denied the nuclear reactor itself was hit, stating it "remained unaffected and continued operating normally." These strikes occurred during a broader US military campaign targeting approximately 90 military sites in Iran, though the US did not identify Bushehr as a target. Bushehr is Iran’s only operational nuclear power plant, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has emphasized that nuclear facilities should not be targets of armed attacks due to potential consequences.
