Senior Iranian official: We planned to strike Ukraine, operation canceled after Kyiv apologized

Senior Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei claimed that Tehran was prepared to launch a retaliatory military strike against three targets inside Ukraine, but decided to call off the operation after Kyiv issued an official apology.

The statements come amid heightened tensions and Iranian threats of revenge following an unusual Ukrainian strike in late July targeting an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea.
