Shin Bet chief reportedly seeks okay to question Channel 12 journalists over Iran leak

Shin Bet chief David Zini has reportedly requested authorization from Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara to question journalists from Channel 12. This request is part of an investigation into an alleged leak regarding the timing of the initial US-Israel strikes in the war with Iran on February 28. A security source indicated that with thousands privy to the operational plans, questioning journalists is seen as a potential method to identify the leaker, stating, "the only way is to take testimony from the journalists and perhaps in that way understand what happened." Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly instructed Zini to pursue this investigation despite initial reservations from the Shin Bet chief. The report also notes that pro-government Channel 14 commentator Jacob Bardugo had previously hinted at military operations and is accused by a lobbying group of IDF reservists of repeatedly publishing classified material.
