‘So-called peace in Gaza is a spectacle’ should ‘shame us all,’ Macron claims in UNGA speech

French President Emmanuel Macron, in his UN General Assembly speech on Tuesday, stated that the "so-called peace in Gaza is a spectacle that shames us all," criticizing restrictions on humanitarian aid and questioning the value of recognizing a Palestinian state without concrete action. He also addressed events in Judea and Samaria, asserting that "Hamas has never been particularly active in the West Bank."

“There are those who claim that peace has been achieved, but this has not opened the way for humanitarian aid deliveries. This sight is shameful. Shame on all of us,” he said.

Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, denounced Macron's statements as "outrageous" and "lying," citing recent Hamas-led attacks against Israelis. Macron also called for sovereignty in Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, and warned that "war crimes have become an industry," emphasizing the need to uphold international humanitarian law and reform the UN Security Council.
