Tehran threatens retaliation for Kyiv attack on Iranian ship 'at the behest of Israel'

Iran has accused Ukraine of attacking an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, killing one sailor, and threatened retaliation. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated this was a "blatant U.N. Charter violation done at Israel’s behest to drag Europe into its war." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck targets in the Caspian Sea, including vessels used in military cargo shipments involving Iran, which Russia uses to procure Iranian Shahed drones. Zelenskyy also alleged that Russia is assisting Iran by providing satellite surveillance of Gulf states and U.S. military facilities, correlating with Iranian strikes.
