The 80-year anti-Zionist rerun

A recently resurfaced 1946 pamphlet, "Truth About Palestine," published by the Christian Council on Palestine, debunks common anti-Zionist arguments that persist today. The council, comprising nearly 3,000 clergy, addressed three anti-Zionist Christian statements from 1945.

• The pamphlet clarifies that the Hussein-McMahon correspondence, often cited as Britain's promise of Palestine to Arabs, never explicitly mentioned "Palestine."
• It highlights Emir Feisal's 1919 agreement with Chaim Weizmann, recognizing the Balfour Declaration and encouraging Jewish immigration.
• British leaders, including Prime Minister David Lloyd George, confirmed the Balfour Declaration's intent was an eventual Jewish state.
• Regarding demographics, the Arab population in Palestine doubled between the 1920s and 1945 due to Jewish development, and British investigators validated only 664 cases of Arab families made landless by Jewish acquisitions.
• The pamphlet also notes the Jewish Agency's proposal for a Jewish Commonwealth explicitly endorsed full legal equality for non-Jews and universal suffrage, countering claims of a "theocratic, racial state."

The document reveals that many contemporary anti-Zionist talking points are an "80-year anti-Zionist rerun," echoing arguments debunked before Israel's founding.
