The crisis of classroom antisemitism

JNS editor-in-chief Jonathan Tobin and Deborah Project legal director Lori Lowenthal Marcus discussed the rise of antisemitism in American education on the “Think Twice” podcast. Marcus highlighted that this issue extends beyond elite universities to K-12 schools, often facilitated by teachers' unions and "woke" administrators. She recently secured a victory against Haverford College, compelling them to adopt new standards regarding anti-Zionist and antisemitic behavior, a change she attributes to federal and congressional pressure. Marcus also mentioned defending Jewish students in Philadelphia who faced targeting in a public high school's "prayer room." She stated that combating this antisemitism is challenging because many educators are indoctrinated in theories that exclude Jews from victim status, and some Jewish individuals are hesitant to act or oppose Republican efforts to combat bigotry.
