Alexandra Edmondson and James McIntosh, who became friends during a water safety course, developed a romantic relationship after surviving a terror attack near Bondi Beach on December 14, 2025, which killed 15 people. During the attack, McIntosh protected Edmondson, and both, trained in first aid, helped the injured, including driving a man with a leg wound to the hospital. Edmondson noted, "We were always just friends," but the traumatic event brought them closer, leading to McIntosh asking to kiss her.
