Thirteen dead after tourism aircraft crashes near Nazca Lines in Peru

A small Aerodiana tourist plane crashed near Peru's Nazca Lines on Saturday, killing all 13 people on board, including 11 foreign tourists and two crew members. The accident occurred around 12:55 p.m. local time in the Pueblo Viejo area, approximately 6 km from Nazca city, as the plane was on a sightseeing flight and preparing to return. After the crash, the aircraft caught fire, making rescue efforts impossible. The cause of the crash is currently unknown and will be investigated by local authorities. Flights over the Nazca Lines from Maria Reiche Airport had been suspended the previous day due to strong winds.
