Thousands Return Home in Lebanon as Conflict Eases Between Hezbollah and Israel

Approximately 400,000 Lebanese people, representing about 40% of the displaced population, have returned to South Lebanon since June 30. This follows the implementation of a security framework aimed at de-escalating the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which began in March and displaced around one million people. Lebanese Social Affairs Minister Hanine El Sayed noted that many returning families face limited resources, stating, “These are families that are able to return to something, at least the basic minimum.” Widespread destruction continues to prevent many others from returning, highlighting the need for significant reconstruction efforts and sustained cooperation between Lebanon and Israel to achieve lasting peace.
