‘Thrilled’ to be in New York City, says new Israeli deputy consul general

Eyal David, 40, has recently assumed the role of Deputy Consul General of Israel in New York City, expressing his excitement for the new post. Having previously served in Nairobi, Kenya, and Morocco, where he helped re-establish Israel's diplomatic presence in 2021, David is a career diplomat aiming to become an ambassador. He is actively involved in preparations for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming address to the United Nations General Assembly, coordinating security with the NYPD. David criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's "anti-Israel" rhetoric, stating, "When there is such rhetoric that is anti-Israel... we see the consequences on the street, and it can be very dangerous." Despite this, David emphasized the importance of his mission in New York, which he considers the "vibrant heart of the Jewish world," and looks forward to strengthening ties with Jewish organizations and politicians from both parties across key states.
