Toronto police probing gunfire, broken window at two locations of Jewish-owned bakery chain Kiva's as hate crimes

Toronto Police are investigating two incidents at Kiva's, a Jewish-owned bakery chain, as hate crimes. One location experienced gunfire, while another had a broken window. No injuries were reported. Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the "vile and unacceptable" targeted attacks, stating, "I will always stand with Toronto’s Jewish community against antisemitism." Melissa Lantsman, a Jewish Member of Parliament, called it a "targeted campaign of intimidation," demanding action from authorities. The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) noted these attacks occur amid a rise in violent extremism, including anti-Zionist rhetoric and other elements. B'nai Brith Canada described the incidents as part of an "escalating campaign of antisemitic intimidation" and urged the federal government to establish a national task force to address the crisis.
