The Council of the Hesder Yeshivot supported the soldiers, attributing the incident to a prolonged crisis regarding religious accommodations in the IDF and a breach of trust with commanders. The council stated that religiously observant soldiers are repeatedly forced to choose between their faith and military loyalty, violating Jewish law and the IDF's Joint Service Order. They urged the army to "get to the bottom of the matter and address issues such as these with the required seriousness."
