Trump announces new reciprocal trade agreement with Jordan

On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a new reciprocal trade agreement with Jordan, building on their existing free trade pact from 2001. The White House stated this deal will expand market access for U.S. exporters and deepen economic and security cooperation with Jordan, described as one of Washington's "most valued" Middle East partners. Under the agreement, Jordan committed to removing non-tariff trade barriers, expanding market access for U.S. agricultural products and motor vehicles, strengthening intellectual property protections, and improving customs procedures. The pact also includes provisions for enforcing environmental laws, protecting labor rights, and prohibiting imports made with forced labor, while reinforcing bilateral cooperation on investment security and export controls.
