Trump threatened to bomb Oman because he’s unhappy with country’s deal with Iran, officials say

U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Oman due to its impending deal with Iran regarding the management of ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Regional officials reported Trump's opposition to the joint Iranian-Omani management of the critical passage, with the U.S. believing Oman has not been sufficiently firm with Iran. Trump also posted a map depicting the strait as U.S. territory, a move Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi called a "delusion."

"Just as Trump correctly wrote the name of the eternal Persian Gulf, his delusion regarding the Strait of Hormuz will soon either be corrected, or we will correct this deluded man’s delusions for him,"

Gharibabadi stated. Iran reiterated that the strait would not reopen until the U.S. meets its conditions, including lifting sanctions. Meanwhile, a projectile hit a ship in the strait, and a cargo vessel was severely damaged off Yemen, with the UAE reporting two ballistic missiles launched from Iran towards its territory.
