The Secret Service urged the change after US intelligence identified a credible threat targeting the president, not specifically the new Qatari-gifted Air Force One he had arrived in. Some officials and members of Congress received only partial briefings, being told the change was a general precaution against Iran. Trump had previously stated that the aircraft switch was "for old time's sake," and later mentioned that the new plane would undergo security upgrades.
