Two Bat Yam residents charged in Japanika grenade attack linked to gang dispute

Two Bat Yam residents have been charged following an investigation into a fragmentation grenade attack at a Japanika restaurant in Kiryat Ono on July 13. An 18-year-old and a 22-year-old were arrested shortly after the incident, with police seizing evidence from their homes. The suspects allegedly arrived on a two-wheeled vehicle around 2:00 a.m., threw the grenade, and fled. Police stated the attack is linked to ongoing conflicts among criminal gangs, specifically a dispute between the Jarushi and Mosli crime organizations. Eight other Japanika branches, many operated as franchises by the Jarushi family, were damaged on the same day as part of this dispute.
