Two Michigan residents charged with making terror threats

Two Michigan residents have been charged with making terror threats against elected officials and a mosque. Alicia Choucair, 33, of Roseville, allegedly threatened Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud and a mosque, stating, "your people" should be kept out of town. She faces charges including two counts of making terror threats and one hate crime count. Anthony Dekinderen, 61, of Lake Orion, is accused of emailing threats to kill Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and members of the state's Supreme Court. Dekinderen faces nine counts of making terror threats and was arraigned on September 19 with a $5 million bond. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel stated, "hate crimes and threats of terrorism against officials at all levels of government are becoming increasingly common," emphasizing that such threats are taken very seriously.
