UK bans Iran’s IRGC and Tehran-backed proxy over attacks on Jewish sites

The UK has banned Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right (IMCR), an Iranian-backed proxy, under new national security powers. The IMCR claimed responsibility for seven attacks on Jewish sites in the UK, with Security Minister Angela Eagle stating, “Sitting behind IMCR were members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force, who almost certainly directed IMCR attacks across Europe.” The ban makes it a criminal offense to support these groups, carrying penalties of up to 14 years in prison. This action follows increased antisemitic incidents in Britain, including arson attacks on Jewish organizations and a deadly attack near a Manchester synagogue, with some operatives suspected of Iranian links. The new measures also designated a Russian GRU-linked volunteer corps.
