UK citizen's Iranian 10-year prison sentence extended two years for talking to media, family says

The 10-year prison sentence of British citizen Craig Foreman, held in Iran on espionage charges, has been extended by two years for speaking to the media, according to his family. Foreman and his wife, Lindsay, were arrested in 2025 while on a motorcycle trip through Iran. Their family spokesperson, Joe Bennett, stated that Craig was informed of the extension after being brought before a judge, reportedly without a lawyer or translator. Bennett said, "We understand he was told he was being taken to see his lawyer, but was instead brought before a judge and informed of the additional sentence." Britain's foreign ministry is urgently investigating the matter. UN experts previously expressed concerns that the couple's detention and sentencing may have been wrongful, lacking fair trial guarantees.
