UK Prime Minister Burnham messaged someone posing as White House chief of staff – report

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham reportedly exchanged messages with an individual impersonating White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. Sources told Politico that Burnham sent "a few messages of no significance" before identifying the contact as illegitimate. The British embassy in Washington informed the White House, concerned about a potential hack of Wiles's phone, though the White House stated the incident "had nothing to do with the chief of staff's devices being hacked.” This follows a 2023 FBI investigation into a hack of Wiles's personal phone. Subsequently, the personal phone numbers of at least three UK cabinet ministers—Wes Streeting, Alex Norris, and Chris Bryant—were published online, with Downing Street working to remove them.
