UKMTO reports two tanker incidents off Oman as Kuwait says it intercepts Iranian drones

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported two maritime incidents off Oman on Saturday. In the first incident, a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile approximately 11 nautical miles northeast of Oman's Lima, causing damage to its engine room and leaving it not under command. No casualties or environmental impact were reported. Later, a second incident occurred 21 nautical miles northeast of Oman's Khasab, where a tanker master reported a large splash and explosion near the vessel, though no damage was sustained. These locations are near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping chokepoint. Separately, Kuwait's military announced it had intercepted hostile drone attacks from Iran, stating that any explosion sounds were due to these interceptions.
