UN condemns Israeli attacks in Gaza, after raft of strikes on Oct. 7 terrorists

The UN’s human rights office on Tuesday condemned Israeli strikes in Gaza, stating that at least 57 Palestinians, including six children, were killed between July 13 and 20. UN spokesman Thameen Al-Kheetan reported that strikes targeted residential buildings and a tent for displaced people, with many victims killed far from the Israeli-imposed "yellow line." He stressed that "the killing of civilians in these attacks raises concerns of continuing violations of international humanitarian law, war crimes and other possible atrocity crimes in Gaza." Israel, which rejects accusations of targeting civilians, stated its strikes targeted Hamas and Islamic Jihad members involved in the October 7 attack and subsequent hostage-taking, as well as weapons infrastructure.
