United States' support policy for Israel. A change on the horizon?

On July 15, the U.S. House of Representatives rejected an amendment to withdraw all aid to Israel, including $3.3 billion in military and humanitarian support. The amendment was defeated with 314 votes against, 104 in favor, and 10 abstentions. A significant portion of the votes to halt aid came from Democrats, with 103 representatives voting to end it. These Democrats stated their votes were a protest against Israel's policies in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, with Greg Casar of the Progressive Caucus stating, "Americans are demanding an end to the taxpayer-funded financing of the Israeli military." While House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries voted against the amendment, he called for a "fundamental reset" of U.S. relations with Israel, suggesting future aid be conditioned on respect for Palestinian rights. This reflects a growing sentiment among American politicians and Democratic voters, with a May poll indicating 74% of Democratic voters oppose continued aid to Israel.
