US Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights says antisemitism in America is 'national crisis'

US Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon declared the rise in antisemitism in the United States a "national crisis" at an Israeli-American Council gala in San Diego. She affirmed that combating antisemitism is a top priority for the Justice Department, detailing numerous enforcement actions. Dhillon cited lawsuits against Harvard and UCLA, and agreements with Columbia, Northwestern, Cornell, and Brown universities, with over 100 institutions currently under investigation for alleged harassment and exclusion of Jewish and Israeli students. She also highlighted a federal lawsuit against an Oakland café for allegedly refusing service to Jewish customers, stating, "When a Jewish person is attacked because they are Jewish, it's a federal crime." Dhillon urged continued documentation of incidents by the community.
