US, Iranian regime reportedly trading strikes after weeks-long lull

The U.S. military conducted its first strike in a month on Sunday, targeting Iranian rocket launchers in the Strait of Hormuz. This action followed observations by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) that Iranian forces were preparing to launch "rockets with sea mines into the strait." The strike breaks a recent lull in a six-month intermittent conflict. Jason Brodsky, policy director at United Against Nuclear Iran, stated that "today's strike is a signal from the U.S. that it is not going to allow Iran to reverse the American gains in recent weeks over ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz." He added that it is "not a decisive shift to a new phase of the war," but rather a reminder of U.S. resolve to police the strait.
