US military launches multi-country, kamikaze drone force

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday the expansion of its one-way attack drone force with the creation of "Task Force Falcon Strike." This new multinational and multi-domain task force will utilize unmanned systems operating from above, on, and below the sea, with support from the United States and regional partners. Task Force Falcon Strike builds upon the success of Task Force Scorpion Strike, which used loitering munitions against Iran. Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, stated, "Integrating and deploying our new capabilities together will help us rapidly realize the new possibilities that are on the horizon." The initiative aims to counter threats, particularly from Iran's use of Shahed drones, and could incorporate the U.S.-developed Low-cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System (LUCAS). CENTCOM is currently consulting with and inviting regional partners to join the task force.
