US says Iran talks ‘better than ever’; Tehran calls claim a ‘fantasy’

Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, stated on Monday that talks with Iran were “better than ever,” despite acknowledging that no understandings had been reached. He indicated that U.S. officials were engaging with “different parts” of the Iranian government. However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) swiftly rejected this claim, with spokesman Hossein Mohabi asserting, “There are no talks. This lie by Trump is nothing more than a fantasy.” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also confirmed that while intermediaries like Qatar and Pakistan were exchanging messages, this did not constitute negotiations. Trump, for his part, maintained that Iran desired an agreement and reiterated the U.S. stance that Iran “cannot have a nuclear weapon.”
