US says it disabled ship trying to run Iran blockade, 12 redirected since renewed closure

The US military has redirected 12 commercial vessels attempting to breach its renewed blockade of Iranian ports. US Central Command reported that two ships were "disabled" for non-compliance, while two others were boarded "to ensure total compliance." One such boarding occurred on Saturday in the Arabian Sea with the Comoros-flagged M/T Charminar, which subsequently continued its journey. Additionally, the Mozambique-flagged M/T Lavine was disabled in the Gulf of Oman on July 24 after its crew repeatedly ignored warnings and attempted to violate the blockade.
