US Senator McConnell discharged from hospital but not yet 'cleared' to return to work

The OAP stated that McConnell is undergoing "multiple sessions a day designed to rebuild strength and reduce the risk of future falls." McConnell, who had polio as a child, was hospitalized in June after a fall that left him briefly unconscious, and he later developed pneumonia. He expressed regret about missing Kentucky's annual Fancy Farm picnic, noting, "I hate that I'll miss the fun this year, but I'm sending my best wishes to the St. Jerome community for a successful picnic."
