US strikes degrading Iran’s threat to Hormuz shipping, CENTCOM tells 'Post'

US Central Command (CENTCOM) spokesperson Navy Captain Tim Hawkins stated that recent daytime strikes against Iran, the first since a ceasefire, demonstrate Washington's readiness to counter threats to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Hawkins emphasized that these operations, directed by President Trump, aim to degrade Iran's capability to attack commercial ships and mariners. He noted that the US is making "significant progress in further degrading Iran's ability to continue attacking commercial shipping." One strike on Greater Tunb Island targeted military infrastructure, including coastal defense and cruise missile storage and launch sites, which had been used to threaten international shipping. The overall objective is to ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
