US Treasury sanctions networks supporting Iran’s Mahan Air, IRGC from India, China, Russia
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said those providing financial, logistical, or commercial support to the IRGC or Mahan Air are “helping sustain a terrorist enterprise."
On Thursday, the US Treasury Department sanctioned six entities and individuals across China, India, Russia, and Iran for supporting Iran's Mahan Air, which allegedly aids the IRGC-Quds Force with personnel, weapons, and military equipment. An IRGC-affiliated front company was also targeted for allegedly gathering intelligence on US and Israeli equipment and assisting Iranian military targeting. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that those supporting the IRGC or Mahan Air are “helping sustain a terrorist enterprise.” This action follows Wednesday's sanctions on eight tankers and ten entities, six of which were China-based, involved in an IRGC-backed extortion scheme forcing ships to purchase maritime “insurance” to transit the Strait of Hormuz, with funds intended to finance the Iranian regime.
