US warns citizens against travel to Lebanon, northern Israel

These warnings coincide with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun's visit to Washington, D.C., for talks with U.S. officials, including President Donald Trump. Discussions will focus on solidifying the ceasefire with Israel, securing Israel's withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories, and extending Lebanese state authority. This visit follows the sixth round of U.S.-sponsored Lebanese-Israeli negotiations in Rome, building on a June 26 framework agreement for a phased Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, contingent on the Lebanese army assuming security responsibility and the disarmament of armed groups.
