The Gerrer Admor Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh Alter, a spiritual leader of United Torah Judaism, reportedly met with Joel Landau, an anti-Zionist Satmar millionaire, to discuss the haredi IDF draft. The meeting, reported by Channel 13, explored solutions including filing complaints against Israel in foreign courts, such as the International Court of Justice. Another participant, Emet LeYaakov chairman Israel Gafner, compared Israel to North Korea, stating, "Human dignity and freedom are not relevant when it comes to those who study Torah." Landau reportedly offered $1 million to a fund protecting yeshiva students from prosecution related to draft evasion.
