Warriors of Israel rebrands as over 90,000 wounded Israeli veterans need lifelong care, community

Friends of Irgun Nechei Zahal, also known as Beit Halochem USA, has rebranded as Warriors of Israel after 75 years of supporting Israel's wounded soldiers. The organization, the official US branch of the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization (ZDVO), aims to address the largest rehabilitation effort in Israel's history, with over 26,000 soldiers wounded since October 7, 2023. The Defense Ministry estimates that more than 90,000 wounded warriors will require lifelong rehabilitation and support for physical injuries, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

“The name Warriors of Israel reflects the strength and courage of those we stand by. Thousands are beginning a recovery journey that will last a lifetime. Our responsibility is equally enduring: to ensure every wounded warrior can live with dignity, independence, and purpose. That is the promise carried by our new name,” said Sam Zussman, Chair of the Board of Warriors of Israel.

Warriors of Israel operates five rehabilitation centers across Israel, offering physical rehabilitation, mental health care, adaptive sports, education, career development, and community support for soldiers and their families. The organization emphasizes providing a lifelong community for wounded veterans to rebuild their lives, with CEO Iris Reff Ronen stating, “Their recovery will not be measured in weeks or months, but over a lifetime.”
