WATCH: Netanyahu says that IDF 'made sure' Syria 'understood' that Turkey unwelcome in region

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Wednesday that Israel struck a Syrian military base in Idlib on Tuesday after repeated warnings to Damascus about Turkey's military presence. Netanyahu posted on X/Twitter, "We will not tolerate a Turkish military entrenchment in Syria that threatens Israel." He added, "Apparently, they didn't hear it clearly enough, so we made sure they understood it better." The Prime Minister's Office indicated that Syria was close to breaching security status quo by allowing Turkish troops, a move Israel considers a threat. Separately, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, during a visit to southern Syria on Wednesday, affirmed that Israel would maintain a buffer zone and prevent hostile forces from establishing themselves along its borders, stating, "We will not allow hostile forces to establish themselves on our borders, and we will know how to use our power precisely where and when it is needed."
