West Bank family says IDF order has barred them from accessing their own bathroom

A Palestinian family in Umm al-Kheir, West Bank, has been unable to access their bathroom for three weeks due to an Israeli military order. The order, issued after a confrontation between the family and nearby settlers, declared the area a closed military zone. Ikhlas al-Hathalin, 42, stated, "The embarrassment and hardship of going to the toilet is beyond what you can imagine." The military claims the closure is temporary and allows access to livestock, which the family disputes. This incident occurs amid escalating settler violence in the West Bank, with the IDF reporting 867 incidents of nationalistic crime and settler violence in 2025, up from 682 in 2024. Separately, two Palestinians were reportedly killed by the IDF during clashes in Deir Jarir, and two Israelis were arrested for allegedly stealing from a Palestinian driver.
