Who will succeed Netanyahu? Likud members back Ohana as party primaries loom – poll

An Agam Institute poll, conducted between August 6-10, indicates a significant shake-up in Likud's Knesset slate and leadership preferences ahead of party primaries. The survey, which included 1,062 Likud members and over 1,000 Likud voters, projects that only about 20 of the current 40 Likud ministers and MKs would remain if the party secures 30 seats. Key findings include:

• Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana is the preferred successor to Benjamin Netanyahu among registered Likud members (22.9%), while Nir Barkat leads among the broader Likud electorate (19%).
• Veteran ministers like David Amsalem and Miki Zohar are projected to fall on the list, with new faces gaining ground.
• A substantial majority of registered party members (66.1%) favor a "fully right-wing government," whereas Likud voters are more open to a unity government with the center-right (54.9%).
• Both registered members (66.8%) and Likud voters (80.4%) overwhelmingly support increasing military conscription, even at the expense of Torah study.

The researchers noted that reserved slots on the party list "saved" Haim Katz and Gideon Sa'ar, and kept Israel Katz in the top 10, highlighting their strategic importance for broadening Likud's appeal.
