Wildfires across region force Tour de France to reroute final stage

Wildfires in southwest France have prompted the Amaury Sport Organisation to reroute the final stage of the Tour de France, scheduled for Sunday. The Ministry of Interior redeployed security forces, initially assigned to the race, to assist with the fires, which have led to approximately 200,000 evacuations. The original 132.5-kilometer Stage 21 from Thoiry to the Champs-Elysees has been shortened to 89 kilometers, now occurring solely within Paris boundaries. The revised route will include extra circuits along the Champs-Elysees and a climb on Montmartre, an area popular with fans and previously used in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
