Woman calls Jewish leader ‘evil Zionist’ at Bondi Beach massacre site

A 67-year-old public servant, Francine Clough, was issued a court attendance notice for allegedly making antisemitic remarks at Bondi Beach, calling a Jewish leader an “evil Zionist.” This incident occurred while Clough was out on bail for a previous charge of staging a fake bomb threat outside a Sydney synagogue in July 2025, an act that caused traffic disruptions. Alex Ryvchin, co-CEO of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, who was present during the incident with a massacre survivor and the Sydney Swans football team, stated, “It’s grossly insensitive, it’s more than that, it’s inhuman.” Clough is charged with offensive language and is scheduled to appear in Waverley Local Court on September 23, 2026.
