Yair Golan unveils NIS 1b. plan to fight crime in Arab society

Yair Golan, leader of the Democrats Party, unveiled a NIS 1 billion annual plan to combat organized crime in Arab society, declaring it a "root treatment." The plan, presented in Nazareth, includes declaring a national state of emergency, establishing a dedicated task force, shortening judicial proceedings to achieve imprisonment within nine months, and creating specialized courts for serious crimes. Golan also proposed an economic campaign to cut off criminal funding and establish "Team 49," an interministerial body to rescue at-risk youth. Addressing Arab citizens, Golan stated, "Sorry that the government abandoned you and gave up on its most basic duty, to protect the lives of its citizens." He criticized the current government, asserting that crime in Arab society is a threat to all of Israeli society. MKs Naama Lazimi and Gilad Kariv also spoke, emphasizing the need for Jewish-Arab partnership and criticizing government policies. Dr. Ashraf Sapia, father of a murdered 15-year-old, shared his personal tragedy and called for leadership to protect Arab citizens.
