Yemen frontlines heat up as Saudi-backed forces challenge Houthis – analysis

Tensions have escalated in Yemen, with increased clashes between Saudi-backed government forces and Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, despite a ceasefire in place since 2022. Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman for the "Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen," stated that Houthi militias have launched "reckless terrorist attacks" targeting civilian and economic sites in Saudi Arabia, resulting in 73 civilian injuries, including women and children. In response, Yemeni government forces, supported by Saudi Arabia, are advancing to liberate Houthi-controlled areas. Al-Maliki affirmed that the Coalition will "take all necessary operational measures to deter these terrorist militias" and defend Saudi sovereignty.
