ZAKA responds nonstop during the organization’s busiest 24 hours of 5786

ZAKA Search & Rescue experienced its busiest 24-hour period of 5786, with volunteers responding to numerous tragedies across Israel and internationally. In Israel, teams addressed multiple fatal incidents, including the death of a 5-year-old in Lod, a 12-year-old drowning in the Jordan River, and a 16-year-old in a rappelling accident, alongside fatal traffic accidents and discoveries of deceased individuals. Simultaneously, ZAKA's International Unit assisted a Jewish family from Jerusalem after their 4-year-old drowned in a hotel pool in San José del Cabo, Mexico, helping to prevent an autopsy and coordinate the child's return to Israel for burial. Moshe Rozenberg, ZAKA North executive director, stated, "There was virtually no pause between calls." CEO Dubi Weissenstern added, "Whether a tragedy occurs in Israel or thousands of miles away, our responsibility does not change."
